MALDEF’s President & General Counsels Award given to Frank Herrera Jr.
Attorney Frank Herrera Jr. of The Herrera Law Firm was recently named this year’s recipient of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF)’s President and General Counsels Award at its 50th Anniversary San Antonio Awards Gala in September.
“I am truly humbled and honored to have been designated as a MALDEF honor recipient during its 50th Anniversary celebration gala,” Frank Herrera Jr. said. “This organization has done so much for so many people in the Hispanic community. It’s the reason why I have been so actively involved in this organization for so many years.”
Described as the “Latino legal voice for civil rights in America,” MALDEF strives to implement programs structured to bring Latinos into the mainstream of American political and socio-economic life, according to the organization’s website.
Frank Herrera Jr. served on MALDEF’s Board of Directors for more than 35 years. Earlier this year, his son and fellow attorney, Jorge Herrera, a member of the Herrera Law Firm, was elected to the national Board of Directors for MALDEF.
“Our family remains committed to the values and principles championed by MALDEF,” Frank Herrera Jr. said. “I was honored to serve on the organization’s board for more than three decades and I’m proud that my son Jorge will carry on that tradition.”
Frank Herrera Jr. will receive MALDEF’s President and General Counsels Award at the 50th anniversary gala on Sept. 28 at The Westin Riverwalk, 420 W. Market St., San Antonio.
