Attorney Jorge Herrera of The Herrera Law Firm has been selected to receive the 2016 40 Under 40 awards, presented by the San Antonio Business Journal.
Each year, the San Antonio Business Journal recognizes 40 young professionals nominated for their talent, success and contribution to the greater San Antonio community. According to the SABJ, the 40 Under 40 awards are among the most important they bestow because they provide "a snapshot of the incredible young talent we have in San Antonio."
Recipients are chosen from a pool of up to 200 nominees by a panel of judges made up of past award winners.
Attorney Herrera and the 39 other members of the award class of 2016 will be recognized on February 11 at an early evening reception at the Norris Conference Center.
When asked what it feels like to be a recipient of the award, Herrera said, "I am truly honored and humbled to be named to the San Antonio Business Journal's list and to receive this award. I was born and raised in San Antonio. I always knew that after college and law school I wanted to come home, raise a family in San Antonio and work to improve our community."
A member and former chair of the Board of Advocates of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Jorge Herrera serves as Vice Chair for the South Texas Hispanic Fund, an outreach fund that distributes grants to charitable programs. He is also a National Board Member of AVANCE, Inc., a nonprofit organization that supports children and families in at-risk communities.
Jorge is a 2001 graduate of Columbia University, where he founded the Latino Student Peer Mentor Program, and a 2005 graduate of The University of Texas School of Law.
