Named ‘Distinguished Young Alumnus’ by law school’s alumni association
SAN ANTONIO (July 13, 2018) – St. Mary’s University School of Law Alumni Association recently named attorney Javier L. Herrera its “Distinguished Young Alumnus,” an award that will be presented in October at the association’s annual Distinguished Law Graduate Dinner.
“I am honored to receive this prestigious award from my alma mater,” Herrera said. “The lessons I learned as a student at St. Mary’s University School of Law continue to serve me well as an attorney. I’m proud of my time at St. Mary’s and deeply honored to receive this award.”
A 2010 graduate of St. Mary’s Law, Herrera has remained involved with his alma mater. He is a member of St. Mary's University School of Law’s Hispanic Law Alumni Association and the Law Board of Visitors. And earlier this year, Herrera received the “Mentor of the Year” award from St. Mary’s University School of Law Hispanic Law Student Association.
St. Mary’s University School of Law Alumni Association will hold its annual Distinguished Law Graduate dinner on Oct. 6 at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, 600 East Market Street, San Antonio. Cocktail reception at 6 p.m. Dinner and program at 7 p.m.
Along with Herrera, the dinner will honor two other St. Mary’s University School of Law graduates – the Hon. Jennifer A. Rymell and attorney John M. Vaught.
“It’s an honor to receive this award and share this recognition with two other distinguished St. Mary’s graduates,” Herrera said. “My father, Frank, graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law as well, which makes this award even more meaningful. I cannot thank the university enough for selecting me as one of their distinguished alumni.”
