Lorena Fernandez, Associate Attorney

An attorney with a strong passion for justice and public service

Lorena Fernandez was born and raised in Floresville, Texas. She completed her bachelor’s degree in political science and graduated from Texas A&M University – San Antonio magna cum laude in 2018.

A first-generation law student, Lorena went on to attend St. Mary’s University School of Law – which is also the alma mater of attorneys Frank Herrera Jr., Laura Tamez, and Javier Herrera. During law school, she interned for the Bexar County Sherriff’s Office, the 81st District Attorney’s Office, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, and The Herrera Law Firm.

In addition, Lorena served as a staff writer for The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Race & Social Justice as a second-year law student. Dedicated to public service, Lorena served as a research assistant for Sr. Grace Walle of St. Mary’s Law Ministry organizing various outreach events as well as a SM1LE mentor to incoming first-year law students. She was a student leader in Mentor Circles, a program in which law students periodically meet with attorney mentors.

At graduation, Lorena was presented with a Pro Bono and Public Service Certificate for her dedication to promoting and volunteering in several pro bono events.

After graduating with her Juris Doctorate in May 2022, and passing the Texas Uniform Bar Exam, Lorena re-joined The Herrera Law Firm as an associate attorney.

Lorena is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association.

She is a children’s ministry volunteer at Metanoya Church, where she teaches Sunday school.

In her free time, Lorena enjoys traveling, attending concerts, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with her family and her puppy, Cielo.
